INFINITY FILTER TABLE SYSTEM
These multi-funnel filter systems include individually controlled valves that allow each filter to be operated independently.
Flow rates on each system vary based on how many funnels are desired and the consistency (amount of fats, waxes, and lipids) in the solution being filtered.

4-Stage Lenticular Filter Skid
This optimized 4-stage filtration skid is designed for filtering ethanol solution from biomass extraction.
The lenticular filter includes four different types of filters in one filtration assembly skid to handle all types of filtering needs. It can be used for pre-filtration, particulate and haze removal, fat and wax removal, decolorization, and fine particulate removal.

Creating viable cannabis consumer products requires the removal of unwanted fats, waxes, lipids, and pigments that would otherwise ruin the taste, flavor, and appearance of these extracts and end products. Filtration and color remediation are two processing steps that allow for the removal of these unwanted compounds while also refining the cannabis extract to make it more appealing for consumers.
Cannabis & Hemp Filtration
Filtration is often associated with the winterization step in the chain of cannabis processing. During winterization, fats, waxes, and lipids will coagulate and must be filtered from the solution before moving onto the solvent recovery step. But, there are other steps in the process that might require filtration. During the initial extraction process, there are often one or more in-line filters that are utilized for fine particulate removal.
Types of Filtration Systems
To achieve efficient filtration or color remediation, it is important to utilize the right type of equipment. There are several styles of filtration systems and it is important to select the right type of system to achieve the desired results.
The most common type of filtration system is the vacuum-assisted Buchner Funnel. This type of filtration system comes in a variety of sizes and is most commonly used in laboratory-scale cannabis production. Buchner funnels can be used for a variety of types of filtration and work well for both fat and wax removal as well as color remediation using media. The only downside with Buchner funnels is they do not scale very well. In processing facilities that need to filter hundreds of gallons of solution, a Buchner funnel would be too time-consuming to be efficient.
Another common type of filtration system is a bag-style filter. Bag filters usually include a pumping mechanism as well to quickly move the solution through the filter. Bag filters are a great choice for fine particulate removal or removing media from a solution. Bag filters can handle large amounts of solution.
Another similar type of filtration system is a lenticular filter. Lenticular filters have many of the same strengths as bag-style filters in that they can handle high throughput and remove a variety of compounds from the solution. Lenticular filters take this a step further by maximizing the surface area of the filter, meaning more solution can be passed through the filter before it needs to be cleaned or replaced.
Lastly, filter presses are another type of common filtration system used in the cannabis industry. Filter presses utilize plates that are pressed together using a hydraulic pump. The solution is passed through the filter by a pumping mechanism and creates a cake on the filter plates. Filter presses can handle large amounts of solution and work well for very fine filtration applications.
Filtration is a very important aspect of cannabis processing. Without effective filtration, it will be impossible to create viable end products for consumers. The best types of filtration systems usually utilize multiple types of filters to increase throughput as well as fine filtration capabilities. At Lab Society, we offer a variety of types of filtration systems such as those described above. It is best to identify what compounds need to be removed from the solution to properly choose the type of filtration system needed. Whether you are trying to remove fats, waxes, lipids, particulates, or pigments, we have a filtration solution to match your throughput and processing capabilities.
